Welcome to our Dogs at Home website.

A Little bit about us.

We are Yvonne and Simon Joslin and we have two
standard wirehaired dachshunds and two ragdoll cats... more about them later.

Dogs at Home came about after we moved to Oakhanger in 2004
and Yvonne was thinking about retiring after 32 years of being a Children’s Nanny.

Having had dogs all our married life (and before) we realised that we could never leave our dogs in kennels and so the idea for Dogs at Home was born. It is literally that, a dog’s home from home.

When your dog comes to stay with us we provide a relaxed home from home environment. The garden is completely secure, there is someone with them almost all of the time 24/7 although Yvonne might have to dash to the shops... but not very often, she has Simon to do that!

We are very lucky to live on the edge of Shortheath Common and to have Binswood, a short walk away, we can walk for miles without seeing a soul.

What to expect from Dogs at Home.

We offer to have your dog/s in our home and treat them as our own.

The garden is safe, secure and theirs to play in, sleep in, sunbathe in.

We feed the dogs morning and night, 7am and 6pm with their own food that you have provided. We walk a long walk in the morning and a shorter walk in the evening, dogs are walked on or off the lead, whatever permission you give. We do walk in all weathers come rain or shine.

There are toys galore, Treat balls, Brain training games, Lots to keep them enteratined and active.

We are licenced by East Hants Distric Council -

Licence No: 14248. Star Rating is 5

       Full liability insurance.

      Safe secure garden.

      24/7 supervision.

      Regular walks.

We will provide photo/video updates if required.

We are happy to cater for any special needs your

dog/cat requires, i.e. medication, special diet.

F.A.Q.
Where do the dogs sleep at night?
That depends on them or the information you have provided. We ask that you bring their own bed/bedding as that helps them feel more settled. During the day their beds will be in the dog room next to the kitchen, at night they can be brought into the kitchen but some dogs are happy to sleep in the dog room which is warm and heated the same as the house. We tend to just let things happen - they all soon swop beds anyway.

Food?
We ask that you provide your dog/cat’s food its much better for their tummies to have what they are used to. The resident animals are all raw fed. There are plenty of natural treats available which we prefer to give.

Medication?
We are happy to deal with this.

On making an enquiry about availability we will ask you to come and pay us a visit so you can see first hand where your dog/cat is coming to stay and who they are staying with. We will also ask you to come on a short walk with us so we can see how your dog is with you and how it gets on with our dogs.

During your visit Yvonne can hopefully answer any of your questions or queries.
